Architects´ firm selected for Karolinska Institutet´s future laboratory complex
Akademiska Hus and Karolinska Institutet announce today that architects Berg/C.F. Møller have been enlisted to design Biomedicum, Karolinska Institutet´s new ultra modern laboratory complex in Solna.
They have convincingly developed and demonstrated how the 70,000 sq. m. laboratory complex could be organised and dovetailed into the relatively cramped space available.
Biomedicum will be one of Europe´s largest medical research laboratories, housing approximately 1500 employees, and its close collaboration with the new university hospital will create fresh opportunities for interdisciplinary research and cooperation over common resources.
The winning proposal will now be put forward for further development, after which it will form part of the detailed development plan being drawn up with Solna Stad. Building is due to commence in 2013, with projected completion in 2017.
