Apply for a Nobel Conference, Minisymposium or Karolinska Research Lecture 2024

Apply for funding to organize a Nobel Conference, Minisymposium in the series ”Frontiers in Medicine” or a Karolinska Research Lecture for 2024 at Nobel Forum. Submit your application form by 31 March 2023.

Nobel conferences at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet's Nobel conferences deal with specified subject areas, last 2-3 days, are normally organized in the Nobel Forum and usually involve around 100 participants, of which around 20 are lecturers. The conferences started in 1979 and so far funds have been granted for around 70 conferences; for previous Nobel conferences see www.nobelprizemedicine.org.

Mini-symposia in the "Frontiers in Medicine" series

In 1994 a series of Minisymposia called "Frontiers in Medicine" was started; for previously completed Minisymposia see www.nobelprizemedicine.org.

Mini-symposia must be held in the Nobel Forum, should last one day and be open to free participation. They must deal with current topics that bridge preclinical and clinical subject areas. The program should include some invited foreign lecturers, but also active participation by researchers at Karolinska Institutet. A maximum of SEK 250,000 per Minisymposium is currently allocated.

Application

Applications for Nobel Conferences and Minisymposia must be received by the Nobel Office, via e-mail address nobelforum@nobelprizemedicine.org, no later than March 31, 2023.

The application must contain:

  • application form with budget
  • description of the purpose of the  conference/mini-symposium
  • list of intended lecturers and  preliminary programme

The applications are processed by the Medicine Nobel Institute's steering group and decisions are made by the Nobel Assembly at its meeting in May 2023.

Karolinska Research Lectures

In 1993 the Nobel Assembly and Karolinska Institutet initiated a lecture series named "Karolinska Research Lectures" which are held in the building Nobel Forum at Karolinska Institutet.

Lectures are held two Thursdays per semester by specially invited, prominent international researchers. The overall concept is to present recent developments of general interest in areas of great relevance to biomedical research in a broad sense.

Application

Researchers att Karolinska Institutet are invited to submit lecturers for 2024 (see enclosed form) to Nobel Office, nobelforum@nobelprizemedicine.org by March 31, 2023.
