Application open for KI Summer School in Medical Research

Are you an undergraduate student at KI? Are you interested in research? Have you thought about doing a PhD? Then the KI Summer School in Medical Research (KISS) may be of interest to you!

The KI Summer School is a research-introductory school open to undergraduate students at Karolinska Institutet. The Summer School was given for the first time in the summer of 2018 and is based on the discontinued Summer Course in Medical Science (1QA017). The goal of the Summer School is to introduce students to research and to encourage students’ future pursuit of a Doctoral education at Karolinska Institutet.

The Summer School kick starts with an introductory week in June (prelim: week 24), with lectures covering a range of basic topics such as hypothesis testing, ethics, statistics, presentation techniques, description of Doctoral education at Karolinska Institutet, and how to write a scientific paper. Thereafter, students take part in a 6-week research project at a department of their choice at Karolinska Institutet. The project is done together with a supervisor. The course finishes in August (prelim: week 34), with student presentations and posters sessions.

Students enrolled in the Summer School are entitled to receive a research stipend. The research group that supervises the student will also receive an economical contribution. The school is given in English.
