3,8 million euro for European doctoral school on Alzheimer Disease and synaptic degeneration – coordinated at KI by NVS

For the first time KI is coordinating an ETN (European Training Network). The project SyDAD (Synaptic Dysfunction in Alzheimer Disease) is funded by a Marie Sklodowska Curie grant and aims to educate the future researchers within the area of Alzheimer Disease and synaptic dysfunction, focusing on new drugs and biomarkers.

The project is led by Bengt Winblad, project coordinator and senior Professor of Geriatrics at NVS, and Susanne Frykman, project principal investigator and senior researcher at NVS. In total, 15 doctoral students (four at NVS) will be educated in an environment that connects the academic world with pharmaceutical companies. Increased collaboration between academia, providing a huge knowledge base, and the private sector, providing the understanding of the drug discovery value chain, will provide a novel approach to find cures for dementia.
