DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Bites of Learning! A webinar series that aims to promote dialogue\, exchange of ideas and inspiration around teaching methods and educational development. In this session we will discuss how AI can help us create more inclusive learning environment. Together with guest speaker Joëlle Golmann we explore how ChatGPT can be used in higher education to better support students with ADHD\, focusing on both opportunities and risks. \r\n\r\n\r\nRegister to Bites of Learning \nhttps://ki-uol.mira.se/Events/108/Apply\r\n\r\nBased on preliminary insights from ongoing research at Karolinska Institutet on the academic journey of medical students with ADHD\, the workshop highlights how many of these students already use ChatGPT extensively and view it as an important learning resource\, while also reporting that they gain little from traditional lectures. A few illustrative examples will be shared to set the stage.&amp\;nbsp\;University teachers\, supervisors\, and educational developers are invited to brainstorm concrete ideas for integrating AI into teaching in ways that are supportive\, inclusive\, and mindful of potential risks.&amp\;nbsp\;The session is facilitated by Joëlle Golmann\, PhD student in medical education at KI SÖS and part of the clinical education research group at Södersjukhuset. The project is supported by KI’s pedagogical funding and directly connects to KI’s Strategy 2030\, which emphasizes research-informed education\, world-class educational support\, and equal conditions that foster creativity\, diversity\, and inclusion.&amp\;nbsp\;Joëlle GolmannJoëlle Golmann is a PhD student in medical education at Karolinska Institutet (KI SÖS) and part of the clinical education research group at Södersjukhuset. Her research explores the academic journey of medical students with ADHD across all seven medical schools in Sweden\, with the aim of informing more inclusive and sustainable practices in medical education. Beyond medical education\, her work contributes to ongoing discussions on how universities can better support neurodivergent students\, as well as to broader conversations on equity\, belonging\, and pedagogical innovation in higher education.&amp\;nbsp\;RegistrationRegister for the webinar. An email with the link to the webinar will be sent to your address.Connect online.\r\n\r\nPlease note that location\, time and information can be updated on the website.\r\nhttps://news.ki.se/calendar/bites-of-learning-lunch-webinar-teaching-with-chatgpt-supporting-students-with-adhd

DESCRIPTION:The research network in medical education invites you to a seminar with Professor Kevin Eva. This seminar will explore how we define and understand quality in health professional education as well as how the field’s diversity of roles\, methods\, and perspectives shapes its research and priorities. \r\n\r\nRegister to the seminar\nhttps://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=8e73v0vPMk--PaHdoEPAXakyJ8Wtox5PmZjvDuBCfoxUQzNaT0oxRjdWNE5URUMwNzU1TUFaU1pKRy4u\r\n\r\nHealth professional education is rife with diversity of roles\, scholarly backgrounds\, methodological approaches\, and conceptual outlooks. That diversity is an essential condition for the field’s current success and continued maturation\, but it simultaneously creates challenges with respect to defining quality in a uniform and productive manner.&amp\;nbsp\;&amp\;nbsp\;This talk will be aimed at doing that by prompting reflection on trends in health professional education research that can enable discussion about how the field’s priorities\, its conception of quality and\, hence\, its scholarship\, have evolved.&amp\;nbsp\;Methodological rigour is important\, but we must recognize that scientific progress has little to do with method. Practical relevance is important\, but we must recognize that context plays such an essential role in education that proof is a flawed concept. In complex domains we are better served by focusing attention on what empirical data are required to improve our thinking about the practical goals with which we struggle\, striving constantly for quality improvement\, rather than trusting that a single correct answer could ever be found. Attendees will\, thus\, be encouraged to embrace the phrase “it depends” and to consider the implications of that outlook for their research\, publication\, and dissemination efforts.Kevin EvaProfessor Kevin Eva is the 2022 winner of KIPRIME and editor of the journal Medical Education. Please read more about professor Kevin Eva.Register for the seminarAn Outlook invitation with details on exact location (room) will be sent out&amp\;nbsp\;to those who have registered though the link on Monday 6 October.&amp\;nbsp\;\r\n\r\nPlease note that location\, time and information can be updated on the website.\r\nhttps://news.ki.se/calendar/welcome-to-a-seminar-with-professor-kevin-eva-on-the-evolution-of-health-professional-education-scholarship

DESCRIPTION:In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world\, cultural humility is essential for fostering inclusive learning environments and preparing students for their professional lives. This interactive workshop is designed for teachers and supervisors seeking to integrate aspects related to cultural awareness into their teaching practice and content at the session\, course and program level. \r\n\r\nParticipants will explore the foundational principles of cultural humility\, self-reflection\, lifelong learning\, recognition of power imbalances\, and institutional accountability and examine how these can be meaningfully embedded across the curriculum.&amp\;nbsp\;By the end of the workshop\, participants will leave with actionable tools and a framework for curriculum transformation that supports culturally humble pedagogy and enhances student engagement across diverse populations. This workshop might be especially useful and relevant to those engaged in this year’s reporting to the Committee for Education\, which focuses on intercultural competence and communication.&amp\;nbsp\;&amp\;nbsp\;This workshop will be held in English. The same workshop in Swedish will be held 21 November.\r\n\r\nRegister to the workshop here\nhttps://ki-uol.mira.se/Events/106/Apply\r\n\r\nContact\n\nNatalie Jellinek\n\nPhone: +46852483875\nEmail: natalie.jellinek@ki.se\r\n\r\nPlease note that location\, time and information can be updated on the website.\r\nhttps://news.ki.se/calendar/workshop-embedding-cultural-humility-into-the-curriculum
