DESCRIPTION:Our next online seminar is on Friday 3 October at 11:00. We welcome Ahsan Khan\, Hong Kong Baptist University.\r\n\r\nJoin via Zoom\nhttps://ki-se.zoom.us/j/63351638181\r\n\r\nAbstractAhsan Khan is currently an Assistant Professor at Academy of Wellness and Human Development in Hong Kong Baptist University. With a multidisciplinary background in engineering\, neuroscience\, and psychology\, his research lies at the intersection of brain stimulation\, neuroimaging\, and cognitive neuroscience. He is currently developing closed-loop neuromodulation approaches\, particularly using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)\, &amp\;nbsp\;functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)\, and electroencephalography (EEG) to investigate and enhance cognitive functions. In his talk\, Ahsan will present his recent work employing personalized brain stimulation protocols that dynamically adapt to an individual’s real-time neural activity\, guided by functional connectivity metrics\, to enhance working memory performance. By leveraging fMRI to identify subject-specific connectivity patterns and modulating stimulation frequency during task execution\, this research investigates the efficacy of targeted neuromodulation in augmenting cognitive function and its translational relevance to psychiatric applications. He will also briefly share his work on inhibitory control functions using various forms of electrical stimulation methods.\r\n\r\nContact\n\nNieves Ruiz Ibáñez\nPhd Student\nEmail: nieves.ruiz.ibanes@ki.se\r\n\r\nPlease note that location\, time and information can be updated on the website.\r\nhttps://news.ki.se/calendar/cognitive-neuroscience-club-toward-real-time-adaptive-neuromodulation-in-cognitive-neuroscience-integrating-tms-with-fmri

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Dancing My Mind – a unique two-day conference exploring how dance affects the brain\, from childhood through to old age. In a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet\, the Ballet Academy\, and the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences\, we blend inspiring lectures\, interactive workshops\, and expert panels.\r\n\r\nWe’ll explore how dance can support – but sometimes also undermine – mental&amp\;nbsp\;well-being and cognitive function in both community and elite settings\, and examine the key elements that can make dance so beneficial for health\, including the role of artistry.Whether you&#039\;re a dancer\, educator\, researcher\, or health professional\, this is a chance to connect\, learn\, and move with researchers and dance professionals.Speakers/Workshops: Reyna L. This series will feature top speakers from around the world\, sharing their latest research and insights in the broad research areas of MBB.&amp\;nbsp\;The Bergström &amp\;amp\; Samuelsson MBB keynote lectures will take place at the Nobel Forum&amp\;nbsp\;and are followed by a mingle with champagne! PhDs and postdocs can sign up for the lunch together with the speaker (12:00-13:15).*Bergström purified and determined the chemical structure of several prostaglandins\, while Samuelsson detailed their formation from fatty acids\, particularly arachidonic acid. Their work led to the discovery of important components in the prostaglandin system\, including leukotrienes and thromboxanes\, which play crucial roles in inflammation\, blood clotting\, and various other bodily functions. These findings provided essential knowledge about normal body functions and explained mechanisms behind diseases such as allergies\, inflammations\, and vascular diseases. As a result\, their research opened up new avenues for medical treatments\, leading to the development of drugs for conditions like asthma and contributing to advancements in reproductive medicine.\r\n\r\nPlease note that location\, time and information can be updated on the website.\r\nhttps://news.ki.se/calendar/bergstrom-samuelsson-mbb-keynote-lectures-stirling-churchman-professor-of-genetics-harvard-medical-school
