Call for nomination of speakers for a new seminar series at KI Campus South: The KI South Distinguished Lecture Series 2022-23

The KI South Distinguished Lecture series at Karolinska Institute South Campus welcomes outstanding international scientists to present their latest discoveries and concepts of interest to a broad range of biomedical researchers, clinicians and students.

The KI South Distinguished Lecture series plans for five to six lectures per year. We started with prof Molly Stevens in May 2021 over zoom due to covid19 pandemic, and plan for two lectures in the autumn 2021. Starting from spring 2022 full scale with five to six lectures per year. The venue for the seminar is the Jan-Åke Gustafsson lecture hall, NEO building, Campus Flemingsberg. All travel and accommodation costs for the lecturer will be covered by the Seminar Series.

Format

  • A short talk given by early career/ local researcher working at KI South to introduce the subject (15 min)
  • KI South Distinguished Lecture by prestigious international speaker (45 min)
  • Afternoon reception and interaction with the speakers and researchers
  • Dinner for a small group of people including the speaker and researchers from KI campus south

Speaker selection

All PIs at KI South are invited to submit proposals. The proposing PI should also act as the host for the invited speaker.

The early career/ local researcher will be selected through the application and decided upon at the same time as the international speaker.

The KI South Science and  Collaboration Group (includes representatives of the various KI campus South departments including BIONUT, LABMED, DentMed, MedH, CLINTEC, NVS, SÖS) will make the final decision and select among the nominated speakers. The KI South Science and Collaboration Group will invite the speakers and coordinate with the host. The aim is to select proposals from all KI south departments so that the topics and hosts represent all activities at KI Campus South.

Once accepted, the KI South Science and Collaboration Group and the host will work on program and administrative details supported by the host’s departments administration.

Nominate before 1 October
