Call for assignment as pedagogical ambassadors within doctoral education - deadline 20th of August 2021

The purpose of the one-year pilot project is to stimulate pedagogical development in doctoral courses by financing time for pedagogical ambassadors and the start-up of a pedagogical network in doctoral education with the support from the unit for Teaching and Learning (UoL).

“The pedagogical ambassadors are a new way of raising educational issues and stimulating pedagogical development in doctoral education" says Erika Franzén, chair of the Course and programme committee and deputy-chairperson in the Committee for doctoral education. "During the pandemic, we have taken a major step into the digitization of doctoral courses with new working methods and pedagogical tools, and there is a great need for further development and support.”

The pedagogical ambassadors are expected to:

  • be part of a pedagogical network together with the other pedagogical ambassadors who support each other in pedagogical issues.
  • participate in seminars and meetings organized by Teaching and Learning (TL)
  • lead pedagogical discussions, for example in seminar form
  • initiate and pursue pedagogical issues that are relevant to doctoral education
  • lead at least one pedagogical development project
  • support colleagues / "Critical friend" and spread good examples
  • work for doctoral education at the entire KI, not only for the research school / doctoral program you are affiliated with
  • immerse oneself in relevant higher education pedagogical literature and participate in other relevant pedagogical educations.
  • after the end of the period, give a workshop / seminar for course providers about initiatives and experiences.

Workshops and working methods, etc. which are developed within the framework of this initiative will function as inspiration and support for teachers in doctoral education at KI and promote future pedagogical development by disseminating experiences. The aim of the call is to pave the way for good examples, "best practice", which can benefit the entire KI.

Funding of approximately 10% of the corresponding full-time at KI for one year will be added and paid out via the doctoral education programme or research school to which the pedagogical ambassador is attached.

Criteria and assessment

Applications received are reviewed by an assessment group appointed by the Academic vice president of doctoral education. Selection and granting of funds are based on the following assessment criteria:

  • The quality of the project and anticipated results
  • How realistic the project is in terms of implementation and resources
  • The applicant's pedagogical merits and ambitions
  • The ability to disseminate results and supervise colleagues

Pleast note that a maximum of one application will be granted from each doctoral programme / research school.

Schedule

Application and assessment work follows the schedule below.

  • 20 August 2021 - call for proposals deadline
  • 21 August - 1 September 2021 - applications assessed
  • The decision on granting is made by the Academic vice president for doctoral education in September
  • Project start in October

Application

The application is sent to doctoral@ki.se no later than 20 August 2021.

The application must consist of a CV (maximum 2 pages), motivation letter with a short account of the intended pedagogical project / activity as pedagogical ambassador. Anchoring with doctoral programme / research school must be in place.

Call for pedagogic course development project proposals within doctoral education 2021/2022

The Course and Programme Committee (under the Committee for Doctoral Education) announces funding regarding digitalisation and pedagogical development of existing doctoral courses. Deadline for applications is 20 August.

To enhance the quality of education at KI and support competent and committed teaching teams in their development of courses using modern pedagogy and digital tools, the Course and Programme Committee (KPK) now announces funding to be used during 2021/2022.

This initiative provides the resources necessary for financing of both time for course development for the teaching team and support from the Teaching and Learning Unit (TL). Courses developed within the framework of this initiative shall serve as inspiration in general for teachers within doctoral education at KI and promote future educational development through the dissemination of experiences. This call for proposals aims to pave the way for, for example, best practices, the benefits of which will be enjoyed by the entire KI.

The Course and Programme Committee has allocated about 600,000 SEK to be distributed between the applications that have the highest priority in the assessment.

Each project should preferably incorporate one or more generic competencies such as research communication, internationalisation, sustainable development, ethics and equal opportunities. Should any of the above be of relevance to the course content, it must be stated in the application form.

Criteria and assessment

Prerequisites to apply are:

  • The application concerns an existing doctoral course and the course director must have been involved in the implementation of the course as a course director on at least one previous occasion
  • Application is done by a teacher team, not a single course director

Applications received are reviewed by an assessment group appointed by the Course and Program Committee. After an initial assessment and selection, a furhter assessment is made of selected applications together with Teaching and Learning (TL). Selection and granting of funds is based on the following assessment criteria:

  • Project quality and anticipated results
  • The realistic expectations of the project in terms of implementation and resources
  • Opportunities for dissemination of results (best practice)
  • Opportunities for follow-up/evaluation of results

Schedule

The application and assessment process follow the schedule below. The funds granted for the initiation of a project will be made available once a decision has been made.

20 August – call for proposals deadline

23 August – 22 September - applications assessed by a panel of assessors

30 September - the Course and Programme Committee decides on the awarding of funds

Application

The application is to be sent to doctoralcourses@ki.se no later than 20 August.

Please use the application form below.
