Campus Flemingsberg Location: Jan-Åke Gustafssonsalen, Blickagången 16, and online

Join us for a comprehensive hybrid seminar on internationalization, academic freedom, and institutional autonomy in times of war, conflicts, and democratic decline.

Two panels with academics will discuss how academic freedom is understood across the world, and how we reflect and react on “science sanctions” while at the same time safeguarding academic freedom, institutional autonomy, international networks, and supporting those victimized by war and conflict. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is now receiving the world's attention, but recent history is replete with similar acts of aggression. From the vantage point of a medical university, every war is a health crisis, calling for our competence and putting us to the test.

The moderator for the event will be Zuzana Zalanova, Director, Europe Office, Raul Wallenberg Institute.
