More funding from KAW to four KI researchers
Four researchers at Karolinska Institutet have been granted a total of SEK 28 million in additional funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW). Two of these researchers are also promoted from Wallenberg Academy Fellows (WAF) to Wallenberg Scholars.
Decisions about the grants were taken at the Foundation’s 2019 December meeting. The four researchers who are granted funding are:
Yenan Bryceson, the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, receives in all SEK 8.75 million in extended WAF funding for his work with developing new diagnostics for rare diseases. The grant will be distributed over a period of five years.
Eduardo Villablanca, the Department of Medicine, Solna, receives in all SEK 8.75 million in extended WAF funding for his research on mechanisms causing chronic bowel disease. The grant will be distributed over a period of five years.
Marie Carlén, the Department of Neuroscience, is promoted to Wallenberg Scholar and receives additional funding of in all SEK 5.5 million for her research about how new light-technology can be used to study causes of mental illness.
Camilla Svensson, the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, is promoted to Wallenberg Scholar and receives additional funding of in all SEK 5 million for her research on chronic pain.
