Ola Larsson new Head of the Department of Oncology-Pathology

Ola Larsson has been appointed as Head of the Department of Oncology-Pathology (OnkPat), starting July 1, 2025. The appointment is for five years, and the decision was signed by Dean Carl Johan Sundberg on April 10, 2025. Ola Larsson, who previously served as vice Head at OnkPat, will take over the role from Lars Holmgren.

“I look forward to fostering continued success in OnkPat’s activities in research, research infrastructure, and education", says Ola Larsson.

Ola defended his thesis at Karolinska Institutet in 2005. Following post-doctoral studies in USA and Canada he returned to Karolinska Institutet and OnkPat in 2010 to start a research group focusing on the role of mRNA translation in cancer.
