Humanitarianism is often seen as an implicit good. The dedication to preserve, protect and support human life, dignity, and the reduction of suffering. But its implicit goodness can also stand in the way of further analysis and debate about what it contributes to in practice. That is why Centre for Health Crises at Karolinska Institutet organised just such an evening of discussion.

During a well-attended seminar at The Cell, leading politicians, including Minister Lotta Edholm, and researchers gathered for talks about crisis preparedness, what it takes to build a resilient society and about the universities' important role in this work. How are empathy, norms and interaction formed in the meeting between people? On 22 January, You, the second part of the exhibition series Me You We – Exploring Human Behaviour, opens at The Cell – a collaboration between the National Museum of Science and Technology and KI. After the open opening on 22 January, a number of events will be offered during the spring. Among these, leading KI researchers will talk about the latest research in relation to art.

A group of 14-year-olds from the International English School in Solna were the first class to try out the new educational programme at The Cell – a collaboration between the National Museum of Science and Technology and Karolinska Institutet that gathers research, art and life science into one multidimensional experience.

On 26 September, the Science festival Researchers' Night (ForskarFredag) and the competition Researchers' Grand Prix, will be organised by Vetenskapens hus, KI, Stockholm University and KTH. The audience at Albanova consists mainly of upper secondary school students from Stockholm schools, but the event is open to anyone interested in research.

During Kulturnatt Stockholm (Culture Night) on 20 April, The Cell opened to visitors. The Cell is a place where art helps to explain the complex world of life science. The National Museum of Science and Technology is responsible for the initiative and Karolinska Institutet is involved as a knowledge partner and a bridge between the world of research and the public events at The Cell.
