Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet are organizing the DevRes conference which aims to promote networking and collaboration between researchers, public agencies, policy makers, organisations and practitioners, in order to find solutions for poverty and develop strategies for the future of sustainable development.

This years Development Research conference (DevRes), 22-24 August 2022, with the theme "Transforming development research for sustainability” is hosted by GlobeLife, a joint initiative of Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet.

The conference will offer both onsite participation as well as digital live-streaming and chat functions. The 1st day of the conference will be at Uppsala University, the 2nd day fully online and the 3rd day at Karolinska Institutet.

We have asked Laran Matta, one of the organizers from Uppsala University, some questions about the DevRes Conference:

What can I expect from attending the conference?

"You will get opportunities to hear about how we can achieve sustainability in health for both humans and our planet and the necessary steps that must be taken to transform development research for sustainability. The conference will provide opportunities for participants to network with other researchers, students and practitioners involved in development research, both in Sweden and abroad. Sessions will be both informative but also participatory and will foster discourse and collaboration", says Laran Matta, Project Coordinator Uppsala University.

What is the aim with the conference?

"The conference aims to promote networking and collaboration between researchers, public agencies, policy makers, organisations and practitioners, in order to find solutions for poverty and develop strategies for the future of sustainable development".

What are you looking forward to the most?

"We are looking forward to engaging with so many different stakeholders and participants on the future of development research over the 3 days of the conference. We are particularly excited about the Public Event which is a panel discussion about Sweden’s new strategy for development research cooperation and is a part of the conference that is free for all to attend!".
