Description

Animals have developed several strategies to fight infectious threats, including detection and avoidance of disease cues (i.e., proactive defenses) and inflammation-induced adaptive behavioral changes (i.e., reactive defenses). During my PhD, I am investigating how proactive and reactive defenses interact, specifically how immunological processes affect the willingness to avoid or approach different stimuli.
