Lectures and seminars Fysiologföreningen presents: Assistant Professor Kevin Murach
Welcome to a seminar with Assistant Professor Kevin Murach, Unversity of Arkansas, USA, on Thursday 16 June 2022, at 15:00, in Biomedicum.
Title
“Skeletal Muscle Epigenetics with Exercise and Aging”
Presenter
Kevin Murach, Assistant Professor the University of Arkansas, USA
Skeletal muscle undergoes a variety of deleterious changes throughout the aging process that ultimately results in reduced muscle mass and function. Pre-clinical murine models are a powerful tool for uncovering the mechanisms that drive age-related muscle dysfunction, and exercise is the most effective therapy for improving muscle health. The goal of this lecture is to introduce a translatable model of exercise for aged mice, then discuss how this model can be used to inform our understanding of how exercise can benefit aged muscle, with a specific focus on epigenetics.
