During his postdoctoral training at CIML, Rafael studied protein synthesis regulation and developed original methods to study the protein synthesis and tRNA pools that allowed him to understand how protein synthesis regulates viral sensing pathways. At the end of his postdoc, he developed SCENITH, a single cell-based method to functionally profile metabolism by flow cytometry (Patent PCT/EP2020/060486). Rafael now holds a permanent researcher position at the CIML.
