Salary review

This year's salary review has begun and you can find more information about the procedure in the links below. If you need more information, you can also ask your research group leader or our HR.

In December, the research group leaders will schedule a Performance Management Dialogue 2 (follow up and salary discussion) with the employees in their groups. PhD students and persons who have fixed-term employments are not included in the salary revision.

  • Please note that for members of OFR/S, P,O or SEKO, salary will not be discussed during the Performance Management Dialogue 2 since new salaries are negotiated centrally between the union and the employer.
  • For members of Saco-S and unorganised unions, the Performance Management Dialogue 2 is a salary discussion during which your salary is announced. If a Saco-S member disagrees on their new salary, the case will be handled separately and the salary will be paid when all disagreements have been negotiated.

Rules for official entertainment and gifts at Karolinska Institutet

We get quite a few questions about gifts and Christmas parties. Read more about the Guidelines on representation, gifts and certain staff benefits.

NB! According to the Swedish Tax Agency, a maximum of two staff parties (i.e. Christmas parties) per year is reasonable, without benefit taxation. A dinner/party in connection with a conference, with at least a six-hour programme, such as the department's upcoming retreat, is not considered a staff party.

Financial closure

The financial closure is approaching and UBW/Agresso Web is closing on 5 January 2024. Hence, all supplier invoices should be approved and authorized by 4 January 2024, at the latest.

Depreciation

Depreciation is an economic concept that involves spreading the cost of an asset over its useful life. Imagine that we buy a machine for 100,000 SEK. The machine will not last forever, let’s say it is estimated to be useful for ten years. Instead of accounting for the entire cost of 100,000 SEK in the first year, KI spreads the cost over the machine’s lifespan. This means that KI writes off 10,000 SEK each year for ten years. In this way, the cost of the machine is matched against the revenues it helps to generate each year. This makes it easier to see how profitable the operation is over time.

Please note that all equipment purchased for over 30,000 SEK should be registered as inventory in account 1291. If two PIs purchase equipment, only one project can ‘own’ the equipment in the system, but the cost allocation of the fixed asset will be distributed.

For any finance/economy-related matters, please remember to use the email address ekonomi@neuro.ki.se.

Reminder: Personal profile pages on KI's website will be replaced on 14 December 2023

All employees (administrators, researchers, PhD students) and affiliates have a personal profile page on KI's website.

Please note that on the evening of 14 December 2023, your current page will be replaced by a new one that retrieves all information from KI RIMS. If you have made changes to the content on your current page after 7 September, you will need to re-enter the information by login in to KI RIMS and manage your profile information.

KI-RIMS helps you keep your profile page up to date by automatically sending information from other systems to your profile page. You decide what to show and what information to add.
